Telehealth Sessions
Our professional counseling is done in the comfort of your own home through secure, virtual video or telephone sessions available to individuals, couples, children and teens, or families.
If preferred, in office visits are available. However, appointments for this option are limited and can delay scheduling. Opting to see a counselor via Telehealth will typically result in an earlier appointment date.
What is Telehealth and how does it work?
Telehealth sessions are similar to in-person counseling sessions, except they are conducted via a smart phone or via Zoom virtual video conferencing using a laptop or tablet.
Is Telehealth as helpful as meeting in person?
In many situations, sessions conducted via virtual video or phone increase the accessibility and convenience of counseling. It can be particularly helpful for those who live in remote locations, have limited transportation or busy schedules, suffer from health issues or a disability, or are caregivers and need to remain in their homes..
As well, many people find Telehealth appealing as they do not wish to meet in an office or they wish to have a broader range of counselors to choose from outside of their particular geographical area. With Telehealth, our TouchStone counselors can be accessed by people living across Washington state.
Are Telehealth sessions private and confidential?
Absolutely. For virtual video sessions, our counselors use Zoom, which is a HIPAA-compliant platform. Zoom contractually ensures that it is a secure and confidential means of communication.
Is a Telehealth session less expensive than in-person sessions?
Typically, Telehealth sessions cost the same as office visits. The same discounts and sliding-fee scale apply. At this time, most insurance providers are covering virtual visits. If you plan to use health insurance, you are responsible for confirming coverage of Telehealth services prior to the sessions.
